Born in Leigh near Manchester, 5-1-1951. Moved to Cross Hills near Skipton, Yorkshire in the 70’s to work in printing trade and race for sponsored cycling team.

Been competitive, either cycling or running (plus a little car racing, crossing Sahara desert and Arctic in winter) for over 50 years. Moved to Andalucia, (Competa, Axarquia) in 2000 to prepare for Marathon des Sables. Since then I moved over the mountains into Granada Province to live first in Santa Cruz del Comercio, Alhama de Granada and now Loja.

Apart from cycle road racing, cyclo-cross (including 5 three peaks races) in UK I have competed in duathlon, inc wins in all Malaga Province races, Ronda101 mtb duathlon and numerous road and mountain races including 5 Pico Velta 50km age category wins and record for over 60 (5hr 8min). Also won Granada Championships series twice which included many wins and top 3 places.

Only person to have run a lap of Granada Province, 1003km in 21days at age 62.

Created both Al Andalus Ultimate Trail stage race and UltimaFronteraTrail 55/83 races and the Loja2Loja 33km challenge which can be walked or run.

Hiking experience includes working in outdoor pursuits shop and 3 years as civilian instructor to Air Training Corp teaching navigation and Duke of Edinburgh Award assessor. MLTB Summer conditions qualified in Yorkshire Dales.

Hiked all over Lake District, Yorkshire, Wales and Isle of Arran, backpacked Tour of Mont Blanc, hiked from Jerusalem to Masada, Hiked in Jordan including Petra, Sierra de Gredos, Sierra Nevada (including two fastpacking trips following full length of Sierra Nevada from east to west. Rif mountains in Morocco and Sierra Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama. Also walked many of the Greek Islands, Tunisia, parts of Finland, Norway, Sweden, France, Austria and South Africa.

Born in South East London, 10-1-1959. Moved to Pretoria, South Africa when 15 years old. Visited Cape Town when I was 21, fell in love with the place and moved down there. That is where I began my hiking when I joined a Cape Town hiking club. Moved back to London in 2008 and then to Iznajar, Cordoba Province, Andalucia in 2012.

I have done many walks in the Cape Town area including all routes up Table Mountain and surrounding areas as well as neighbouring countries. Walked the famous Otter Trail and the Tsitsikamma Trial on the Wild Coast.

I have been to Namibia and walked the Fish River Canyon. Have been to Malawi visited Cape McClear on Lake Malawi and walked up to Zomba Plateau. Completed a safari in Chobe National Park in Zimbabwe and Kruger Park, South Africa. I have also completed the Cape Argus Cycle 106km event three times, canoed the Orange River in Namibia, paraglided off Table Mountain.

Spent some time working back in the U.K. and have done numerous walks on the Kent coast and surrounding areas. Visited the Norwegian Fjords and walked up snowy Preikestolen (the Pulpit rock) with its fantastic views of the Fjords.

In Spain walked in many parts of Andalucia including Sierra Nevada, Murcia, the Axarquia, Sierra Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama, Sierra Loja and sections of the famous Camino de Santiago in Galicia and done some canyoning in Alquezar near Zaragoza. Also worked on the routing team for the 230km Al Andalus Ultimate Trail in Granada Province for the past two years.
